[43] Shake Rattle Enroll

[43]
Shake Rattle Enroll

The classic gag refering to UP as a "University of Pila" is virtually a fact.

Last Thursday when I arrived here in Manila with my weird haircut, at 6 in the morning, I had no idea what horrible thing would happen later that I took a nap for two hours. I woke up and ate breakfast then gulped on a Centrum Complete capsule. Consequently, I proceeded to UP a.s.a.p. for my summer NSTP-CWTS enrollment and saw the nose-flicking crowd which almost gave me a migraine. In addition, the pioneering Real-Time system of enrollment was ruefully introduced. It went like this: 'those who did not acquire their desired subjects through the CRS Online will have a chance to enlist again on the registration itself by going to the Computer Center and printing their own Form 5' [pardon to those who cannot relate; it's even harder than what you're thinking]. That is, if you take a line with ALL other UP students. So it's not just a line. It's a looooooooooooong line. We felt like frustrated wannabe stars who would risk our last ounces of fortitude on Earth just to have a 'slot' with the achievers of American Idol or even local Startsruck.

From 10:30 to 6, dusk I was with Sandy! Don't even imagine: we could not spell PROGRESS, PATIENCE, or HOPE anymore, for more than eight hours of waiting to death. Luckily at the beginning of the unexpected Calvary, she brought magazines and Sudoko collections that at least took 1/10 of the boredom we encountered hellishly. Then we resorted to having grade school games with the help of pens and papers. Our high hopes were in climax that we both thought of not surrendering till the end. When it was 4:30, we looked so stressed that AC who was before us in the line seemed lifeless, unresponsive and motionless. I then told Sandra, "Let's be optimistic, we can make it early.' And she replied, "Be realistic, we'll be there inside at 6!" Poof! We were inside by 6! Gratefully, the Internet server worked that we got our schedules in a breeze. But it didn't stop there.

The Friday the 13th came to the limelight when I continued the next steps of the registration. After I had the signature of the present adviser, Ma'am Lambino [infamous for making taray and all], I submitted with Ate Au my unissued Form 5 to the Administration's Office and asked, "What time will it be assessed po?" We got an answer of "3 o'clock siguro ng hapon...ng Tuesday. Joke!" Great, I thought, 4 coma-inducing days of enrollment, how hard can it be?! They tell me.

Waiting for our assessed Form 5's, my blockmates Mish and Gene and orgmate Ate Ge were in horror of the thought that by we can't make it that day. When it was 3:50, our names were called that we hurridly whooshed to AS to finally pay our matriculations! Perhaps the nightmare was neutralized after learning that the fee for NSTP was half the supposed one. Yipee! I had a good kickback, man!

And yes, I'll be in Manila for five weeks from now on but I won't get lousy out of it for sure. Summer for me this year has come to a lamentation, but hey what could I do? P.S. DISMAYING HEADLINE: Blockmates Jau, Shen, Shereen and Mics have shifted out of Mass Comm. I hope they find their own real happiness in some other paths they take. :c

DJ Day
I'll just post pics of me, Sandy and Kuya Reuben. It happened last Thursday.
I'm too lazy to type. All I know is that I was with Sandy the whole day
from DZUP station to the skywalk exploiting the school's wi-fi with our laptops.

Tales of the Summer-loving Sucker

People would sometimes raise a brow when I'd tell them how much I love a bright glorious sunny day. I have the potential of a biological solar energy absorpent, wherein I am categorically 'meteoric': high-spirited when the sun is blazing hot, and dull when clouds or rainshowers hover. The sun is virtually my daily vitamins. Hence, I await for summer.

Summer in the Philippines is spelled H-E-L-L! I could mistake anyone for Lucifer (and metaphorically, it's truthful when I'm in the metro). But still I liked it. What's the problem when the sky is stunningly blue, huh? When the laundried clothes dry off in hours? When every barkada outing, lakad, date or just tambay is easily set up to the last minute when you wanted to? When you start to shelf and stock up your books, notebooks or anything that construct academic value? It's LIFE. Purposive to that, the most common notion of summer is vacation. I actually sleep more than 8 hours a day to saitisfy my ultimate goal back when I tire myself studying till both the long snd short hands of the clock strike at 12, thus the sprouts of eyebags. I do whatever I want.

I remember in my COQC aspirancy, specifically in our 'summer training', we looked more or less like branched-out twigs. I did rolling before we could eat have our lunches. I did push-ups 1 PM in the afternoon, offering our palms to the almost-flaming outdoor basketball court. I was 'punished' in feared military manners, bruning the skin of my respective nose and adjusting my pigment to the exact opposite.

This summer, I have in my calendar list debut parties of highschool friends (read: Juni, Christine), reunions, barkada trips, CWTS (Civil Welfare Training Service) in UP with blockmates and orgmates, slumbers, sleepovers, and of course lotsa scoops of ice creams and tumblers of halo-halo's.

Here's what you can do this summer: for college students like me, who shall have classes...

food trips. slumber. sleepovers. lakads. no summer trainings as in swimming lessons and stuff. meditate. yoga, anyone? take pics.

My freshmen school year has some to a blissful end. Special thanks to Block K-6 06-07 and UP Mass Communicators' Organization for making my first year in college a blast.

The EQ-Rean: entertainment quiz show on Korean pop culture was successful!

[39] Pacquiao and the others' The Impossible Dream

[39]

Pacquiao and the others' The Impossible Dream

I know that having high aims in life is practical, unless you're not a human being. I would not mind President Gloria hoping, rather wishing, to have her height doubled the next morning, or Tuition Fee Increase in UP come to an abrupt destruction in one swish of a magic wand. It's totally not bad to be that ambitious, right?

Enter Manny Pacquiao and the others, hall of famer politician-wannabes,who are the same people I would better incinerate than watching them in public television yelling their platforms accompanied by these [ear-splitting/grating/coma-inducing] novelty songs. Jesus Christ!

Days ago, Fuckman affirmed his candidacy for congressman in his place, Gen. Santos perhaps. I surveyed many people who can almost throw up. "Anong gagawin nya dun? Susuntok-suntok?" These kinds of people must stick to the fields they are exclusively strong in, says Steph. In Unang Hirit, he was interviewed via phone patch and when asked, what to do in case [in any dreadful calamitous case] he wins as well, a congressman, he replies, "I'll be the bridge between the people in my place and in Manila. I'll probably implement many projects that will pursue education. *blah blah blah*" Grrrr. Of course, he's gonna be the BRIDGE--it's the congressmen's JOB! And wait, education??? One who hasn't even graduated [or has he??] knows something of these laws, and other forms of political science???

Many tapings had Richard Gomez missed as the time nears for the national elections. God have mercy on Him! Another actor who tries to make a fool out of himself again is following the trails of Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla, Tito Sotto and of course Erap, the supposedly phenomenon. My tita said, "Ang tanga lang ang boboto diyan!" I willingly agree. In the first place, the tradition here in the country is that stardom is a stepping stone to politics. I can't imagine Jessica Zafra maiming the moment she first heard that the hunk of her generation would enter the disgusting world of politics! Laugh!

Like Gomez who allegedly won a slot in the Administration party, Tito Sotto settles with them too. I am confused that these formerly Opposition people now would dance on the other side of the floor. Lito Lapid, on the other hand, is also unacceptable. One who is not not not not [that's quadruple negative] fluent in English has become a senator years ago. I know that English is not the best criterion for someone to be a politician, but hey, it's reality, and English whether he likes it or not, whether English likes him or not, he must achieve it.

So much for it, my blockmate Amae could perform a decade of meditation in Greenland just to kick Bong Revilla in the Senate House. As in ...she hates him! I can't blame her, it's politics.

So who is to blame then? I would point my middle finger to the politicians who graduated from fine universities with flying colors and stuff. When people see that they are no longer effective as that of actors/actresses who actually entertain with much less effort, they tend to choose the side of the latter who are rather believable and found to be credible, not to mention charismatic. It's a collision of the dignity of the person and in there, develops trust. Bird-brained humans tell that UP is indeed the breeding grounds for corrupt politicians, for cleverness is everywhere. Duhrrr. It just depends on the person, you guys. When you generalize, do some review of related literature. You are so narrow-minded[is that the English term for makitid and utak??]. Ehem ehem Raul Gonzales. I am afraid I'm stil 16 and cannot vote. Meaning, I am of no responsibility when then again, actors would have the limelight. Please naman oh, tama na.

These coming months, Meralco bills will deplete as the domestic people would rather do endless yoga sessions than opening the TV and watching those ugly freaks. That's more like it.

Vote wisely people.
